    I am trying to get 3 sticky pistons in a row to stay on.

    • Then when I hit a pressure plate they all go down. I can't get this to work. Please help.

    Use a redstone torch to keep them in the on position and wire the plate to turn the torches off.

    But the torch keeps them powered on.

    The plate stays powered on as well.

    How to make a piston stay open and close when activated

    It's not doing anything. Do I need an inverter?

    Yeah, have a NOT gate between the redstone torch and the pressure plate.
